DJ EZ @ Flash | Washington DC | 8/14/2014

Last night DC promoters FORWARD and Cadence brought in UK Garage legend DJ EZ who delivered a smashing set at DC’s Flash Nightclub.  Having been to several shows in DC at various venues, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to see a true legend come perform the type of music that has been made insanely famous in the UK thanks in part to the evolution of Boiler Room shows and the European music scene. us-0814-610197-370868-front

Flash was the absolute perfect venue for DJ EZ.  The small venue had the perfect acoustics for a show that featured groovy basslines and upbeat high-hats; all of which shook the club and begged crowd members to dance like there was no tomorrow.  The rectangular space is able to trap the bass in, while allowing the lyrics to be heard crystal clear–and of course the signature pulsing LED wall made for a great sensory experience, and appeared to move in perfect synch with the rhythm coming from the decks.  One of the memorable moments was hearing EZ’s spin on “Thong Song” by Sisqo that was the jam back in 2000, and is once again making clubs bounce as everyone from Trippy Turtle to EZ looking to remix such a booty-shakin’ good song.

One thing that was evident, however, the lack of a big crowd.  For such a popular DJ in the UK it would have been nice to see more people at the show.  While smaller crowds are all the rage at the super exclusive Boiler Room shows, here in DC you always have to worry about making the bar happy.  FORWARD and Cadence have been bringing in some serious talent, and after FORWARD’s epic party on the Jefferson Memorial this summer, we would have thought (and hoped) more people would be paying attention to their events and showing the FORWARD crew some love.  These sick shows and internationally acclaimed DJs love coming to DC, so we hope more people start paying attention so we can keep the bar happy so the venues will continue to host them!

For the 75 or so members in the crowd, the intimate experience with DJ EZ was truly epic.  For everyone who missed out, follow FORWARD and Cadence on Twitter, and come out to their next shows–which we’re certain will be just as awesome as all the ones thus far!
